Spring was 6 days away, and there was a blizzard warning. Why does winter wait until the last possible moment to make an appearance? I was angry at the nor’easter now dusting the crocuses and daffodils in snow and ice, but it also gave me an excuse to hunker down in the apartment and make a pan of baked oatmeal, a cozy yet long-forgotten breakfast dish.

Stalks of (late) Spring, Part 2

Failure: most people are afraid of it, don’t want to admit to it, and certainly don’t want to eat it.

It’s understandable. Failure can be embarrassing, shameful and all of those other things that make you want to curl up in the fetal position in the dark and listen to Alice in Chains’ Dirt on repeat (or is that just me?).

Time for Breakfast

Some people don’t have much of an appetite in the morning. I am not one of those people. I wake up with a rumbling stomach, and before I’m even out of bed I begin mentally sorting through my cabinets and fridge thinking about what I can concoct.
